Case Study

RF modem using LoRa® in the 429 MHz band: Machine monitoring system

Obtain realtime information about various machines in the factory while forwarding it to a central management system in order to "visualise" their status.

The system is capable of obtaining information about various machines in the factory while forwarding it to a central management system in order to "visualise" their status and in realtime. Collected data can be exported to CSV file and if a machine stops for any reason, it is possible to notify by email to the operator automatically. By using the long range SLR-429M LoRa modem operating in the 429 MHz band for machine monitoring, large scale cable installation for communication is not required. Such IoT system can be introduced in a short time and at low cost.

Radio Product

Incorporation of the RF modem SLR-429M with LoRa® operating in the 429 MHz band. The frequencies in the 429 MHz band offers excellent diffraction characteristics and high receive sensitivity is available thanks to the LoRa® modulation technology; these allow the modem to achieve long-range communication. Even in areas where line of sight communication would be difficult such as the factory environment, stable communication is achieved compared to conventional RF modules. This module is optimized for various IoT systems.

The SLR-429M contains a Semtech's LoRa® wireless RFIC. The LoRa® Mark and LoRa Logo are trademarks of Semtech Corporation.

System overview

Introduction of the system that is easy to install in a short time and at low cost. No large scale cable installation required.

Circuit Design also manufacture modules for use in the 434 MHz band allowing similar application to be developed in countries outside Japan.

The low power radio SLR-434M operates in the 434 MHz ISM band and uses our command and ID protocol system. This allows the user to easily and reliably transmit data around modules using network topology. SLR-434M incorporates LoRa®   technology developed by Semtech. Using LoRa modulation while lowering bitrate allows stable communication in difficult areas to be achieved without increasing RF power and keeping power consumption low.
