"Introduction to the Smith Chart - Part 1" article has been uploaded to the RF Design Guide page

Smith Charts are an integral tool for the RF engineer.

Perhaps if you are an engineer who just selects and installs radio modules, you may ask "do I need to know how to use something as complex as a Smith Chart?"

Smith Charts are mainly concerned with problems related to impedance and frequency. Therefore, an engineer may encounter a Smith Chart while trying to design and install the right antenna for his radio system. It is useful to be able to interpret such a chart to show that the antenna has the correct impedance for the desired frequency of operation.
